In the lead-up to World Lung Day on 25 September, the Global Asthma and Airways Patient Platform (GAAPP) is promoting ‘The Global State of COPD’, created by the Speak Up for COPD coalition to drive change to tackle the global lung health crisis and the ‘Lung Health for Life’ report that was created to educate on improving care for people living with chronic respiratory diseases.
COPD is one of the largest public health challenges facing governments and health systems today. The Global State of COPD Report calls on governments and healthcare leaders recognise the urgent needs of people suffering from COPD and to implement polices aimed at improving care. It is based on research with 26 national clinical and patient experts, with a focus on Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Malaysia, Nigeria, Poland, Saudi Arabia, and the UK.
The Lung Health for Life report outlines how collaboration can drive policy action towards a proactive approach to care and identifies four major areas of focus:
